Brad Chony
Brad has been involved in the commercial equipment finance and leasing industry for well over a decade, having been an account manager at Roynat Lease Finance for over 7 years before the formation of Carbon Capital in 2013. Raised in Thunder Bay Ontario, Brad developed a passion for hockey, vintage muscle cars and drag racing at a young age; hobbies he continues to enjoy to this day. Prior to being involved in commercial financing, Brad worked for mining company in Northern Ontario and spent several successful years in a product sales role as both an account manager and as business owner. There’s no question every business, regardless of industry, faces unique challenges while also having the opportunity to capitalize on specific opportunities, and Brad has an appreciation for both sides of that equation. Ryan Cullum
Born and raised in Toronto, Ryan left home to pursue an education at the University of Ottawa. While attending school, he was a member of the Gee-Gees Men’s Rugby Team for four years. This lead to an opportunity to play for the National University of Ireland in Galway, Ireland for a year while continuing his education. After graduation, Ryan accepted a job in Calgary, Alberta selling survey equipment, high precision GPS, and UAV’s. After six successful years in sales with a rapidly growing company, Ryan joined Carbon Capital Corp. in July of 2016. It was the lessons learned during this time as a sales representative that allowed him to understand how important a strong lease finance partner is for your business. Ryan’s core business values are quite simple, communication and transparency, which are often over looked in today’s world. Communication is the key to any transaction for both the seller and buyer to ensure all parties are informed, every step of the way. It is his “pick up the phone” attitude that has allowed him to quickly succeed with a variety of vendors and end users across Canada. Dean Meppem
Dean brings over 20 years of industry experience in the Prairie market to Carbon. Having been a manager for a national company for many years he decided to pursue his own venture, partnering with Brad and Ryan. Dean has a wealth of knowledge, experience and contacts through all industries and brings a hardworking attitude to the Carbon team. Originally from Australia, where he obtained his Business Degree from QUT, Dean arrived in Canada in February 1996 for a 12 month stay. 24 years of married life later, Dean has a university graduated son and a daughter well into her nursing degree. Prior to the equipment financing business Dean was in the office equipment market where he learned that making calls and always been accessible was a key element to success. This new venture for Dean allows him to service existing vendor and customer relationships to the fullest extent. With a wider array of service offerings, Dean can work on a solution for almost all scenarios. Dean’s successes are based on pretty simple concepts – work hard, answer your phone, communication, integrity. Dean’s base of vendor and customers have him working throughout Canada on a daily basis. Jori Dean
Jori joined Carbon in 2022, bringing over a dozen years’ experience in equipment financing and leasing to the Carbon team. Since graduating with a business degree from the University of Lethbridge, Jori has worked in the equipment finance department of two Canadian banks, and more recently at a large nationwide leasing company. With this varied industry background, Jori has a thorough understanding of the entire financing cycle – from sales, to credit, to funding – which enables him to recognize what makes each deal unique and determine the most appropriate financing solutions for his clients’ individual needs. Jori focuses on building long-term relationships and his success to date has been a product of his up-front communication style, quick response times, and commitment to always doing things the right way. Born and raised in small-town Saskatchewan, Jori prides himself on being able to relate to folks from all walks of life and enjoys the day-to-day variety the leasing business provides. Jori is now an adopted Alberta boy, living in Calgary with his young family, and in his spare time enjoys sports and spending time in the outdoors. Jori covers the Prairie market and his areas of expertise include:
